Jeannette "Emily" King Johnstown - Jeannette "Emily" King, 84, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at the Wells Nursing Home in Johnstown, NY.
Born in Wells, NY, on December 19, 1940, she was the eldest daughter of the late Hasson, Ila (Baker) Simons and stepfather Arthur "John" Ploss.
She graduated from Piseco Elementary school in 1954 and from Wells Central in 1958. Emily completed the early childhood curriculum at SUNY Cobleskill in 1960 and State University in Plattsburgh in 1962.
Emily taught school until she started her 30-year career with the United States Postal Service retiring as Postmaster of the Caroga Lake NY post office.
Her leadership and compassion flowered through the following roles as president: The Caroga Lake Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary, the Wheelerville school board, Wheelerville PTA. These positions reflected her commitment to bettering the lives around her. She was a member of the North Bush Methodist Church.
Emily is survived by her beloved husband Harold King, whom she married in 1973; her stepson Stephen (Laurie), and siblings John (Marcia), Charles Simons (Andrea), Ida Paone, Donna Simons and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc., 215 E. Main Street, Johnstown, NY 12095.
Visitation for family and friends will be held prior to the service at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m.
Interment will be held in the springtime at North Bush Cemetery.
