LAKE GEORGE — The village of Lake George on Tuesday unveiled Lights at the Lake, a brand-new holiday tradition launching Nov. 30.
The outdoor light display, featuring winter scenes and holiday-themed decor, will showcase a collection of festive light displays along the shores of Lake George. The installations are designed for visitors of all ages.
Lights at the Lake is a walking-only event, though some of the displays are visible from passing vehicles.
In keeping with Lake George tradition, Mayor Raymond Perry will “flip the switch” on Lights at the Lake — and the lights in the village — on Nov. 30, coinciding with Light Up the Village, Lake George’s annual event inviting visitors to enjoy the area and the illuminated lake.
“The holiday season can be stressful for many, but this new experience can help provide a relaxing way to get through that hustle and bustle,” Perry said in a press release announcing the event. “We enjoyed working with the town to make this an event that will attract everyone from around the area, and one that will become a new family tradition.”
The lights displays are leased from the Albany Police Athletic League.
“Albany PAL is excited to work with the Village and Town of Lake George to create new memories of this magical season for families from throughout the Capital Region and beyond, with the Lights at the Lake,” Albany PAL Executive Director Sgt. (Ret.) Leonard Ricchiuti said in a press release.
