GLENS FALLS — The Greenville boys’ basketball team stunned top-seeded Hoosick Falls on Monday night in a 52-41 victory in the Section 2 Class B semifinal.
Greenville, the bracket’s four-seed, held the Panthers to just two successful shots over the final six minutes, in a game the Spartans led wire-to-wire.
Spartans senior Jack Giarrusso left the game at the 3:10 mark of the first quarter before coming back just over two minutes later, hitting an NBA-distance 3 as the first period ticked away to make it 14-10, knocking through a halfcourt shot one quarter later at the buzzer to enter the locker room up 25-16.
He went 4 for 10 from 3 and led all scorers with 19 points, adding a team-high seven rebounds.
Hoosick Falls had two double-digit scorers. Senior Carson Glover led the Panthers with 12 points, while sophomore Ryan Sparks added 10, as well as a team-high nine rebounds.
